Bridge Rehab Project Set To Begin On S.R. 73

Warren County (Wednesday, February 14, 2024) – A bridge rehabilitation project on state Route 73 in Warren County is set to begin later this month, with restrictions going into effect February 26.

The project calls for replacing the bridge over Corwin Nixon Road and the Little Miami Scenic Trail, near the junction with Smith Road, as well as rehabilitating the bridge over the Little Miami River, located just east of the intersection with U.S. 42.

Construction will begin at the bridge over Corwin Nixon Road on Monday, February 26, and S.R. 73 will be reduced to one lane, with traffic maintained by temporary signals. Smith Road will be closed at its junction with S.R. 73, and traffic will be detoured by way of Clarksville and Corwin Nixon roads. The Little Miami Scenic Trail, however, will remain open to bicyclists and pedestrians.

A start date for construction at the bridge over the Little Miami River has yet to be determined, and although traffic will continue to be maintained throughout much of the project, S.R. 73 will be subject to closure for up to 10 days for the deck overlay.

The Double Z Construction Company was awarded a contract for approximately $4 million to complete the project, and all work is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2024.

Residents:

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, the Fire Chief and all our members, I would like to say thank you to everyone that came out and voted on November 7th.

Since the fire levy failed by a small margin, we would like to hear from those who said NO.

If it was strictly too much in property taxes, that you feel you can't afford, then I understand.

But, if there are any other underlying problems or issues with the service that we are trying to provide, please let us know so we can work to improve to your satisfaction.

Your input is always welcome and appreciated. (click e-mail link below for feedback)

Topic:   Board of Zoning Appeals - Variance

 When:    September 21, 2023  @ 7:00PM

       NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

The Wayne Township Board of Zoning Appeals will hold a public hearing on September 21, 2023, at 7:00 pm. at the Wayne Twp. Admin. Building, 6050 N. Clarksville Rd., Waynesville, OH, to consider: A variance and conditional use/site plan application filed by Kevin Forrest for property located at 5564 Elbon Rd., (PID #0903400012) to convert an existing barn into a detached secondary dwelling unit. He seeks a variance from §3.209.2(A)(1) and §2.302.2 regarding setbacks for a secondary detached dwelling unit, and from section 3.209.2(A)(4) for the size of the detached secondary dwelling unit. §1.306 also applies. The applicant also seeks conditional use/site plan approval to convert the existing accessory building into a detached secondary dwelling unit. §3.209.2, §1.304, and §1.305 apply.  Information is on file and available for public inspection at the Wayne Twp. Office of the Zoning Inspector,6050 N. Clarksville Rd., Waynesville, (513)897-3010 ext.2 or staceylowing@waynetownship.us. Hours Mon. through Fri. 8am-4:30.

The applicant wishes to convert an existing barn into a detached secondary dwelling unit.  This requires conditional use/site plan approval. The proposed secondary dwelling unit slightly exceeds the maximum allowable size by about 120 square feet. This requires a variance. The existing barn also is about 88 feet from the right-of-way line, where 100 is required, which requires a variance. The property size is 15.14 acres.

Topic:   Board of Zoning Appeals - Variance

 When:    August 17, 2023  @ 7:00PM

       NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

The Wayne Township Board of Zoning Appeals will hold a public hearing on Thursday, August 17, 2023, at 7:00 pm. at the Wayne Township Administration Building, 6050 N. Clarksville Rd., Waynesville, OH, to consider: 1. An application filed by Jodee Ball for property located at 5337 Lytle Rd. PID# 0502300052 and 0502300053 (which would be combined together) for a variance from §3.208.2(A) regarding number of accessory buildings over 200 square feet.  §1.306 also applies.

Information is on file and available for public inspection at the Wayne Twp. Office of the Zoning Inspector,6050 N. Clarksville Rd., Waynesville, (513)897-3010 ext.2 or staceylowing@waynetownship.us. Hours Mon. through Fri. 8-4:30.

The applicant wishes to construct a 48’ by 60’ pole barn but requires a variance as only one accessory building over 200 square feet is permitted on a property of this size. They currently have a detached garage that is over 200 square feet. If this variance were to be approved by the Board of Zoning Appeals, the structure could not be built until the two lots (the property with the house at 5337 Lytle Rd, and the vacant adjacent lot were combined into one lot—an accessory building cannot be built on a vacant lot- the proposed location is within the current vacant lot)

TORNADO SAFE ROOMS

The Ohio Emergency Management Agency has a program where Ohio homeowners may apply for a rebate for tornado safety rooms that are constructed outside or inside of the house.

Homeowners that are selected and qualify for the rebate program are eligible for a rebate of 75% of the allowable costs that was used to install and construct their safe room, up to a maximum of $4,875. This is a "REBATE" program, only AFTER the installation, construction, and payment of a safe room will selected and qualified applicants be reimbursed for eligible costs.

Homeowners that have been selected must also be able to attend a mandatory "Safe Room Briefing" meeting to be eligible for the rebate.

The application period for 2021 ends on March 5, 2021 at 5:00 pm.
